Studio EA Offices
Located on a significantly sloped property, this project was challenged to generate a solution that contextually fit the site while providing enough space to be developed. We created a site concept that set the building into the hillside and slightly above the adjacent road while preserving the natural beauty and wildness of the landscape.
Inspired to keep the space open we wrapped the main level in glass and stacked a second story above. The midnight color siding is Shou-Sugi-Ban, an ancient Japanese exterior siding technique that preserves wood by charring it with fire. The interior continues with the simple and natural theme by leaving the concrete walls and floors exposed and balancing that rawness with refined and sophisticated detailing.
