St. Joseph Township Residence

This craftsman-style home stands in contrast to its landscape with modern elements. Its compact footprint controlled the budget while allowing for 4,000 square feet of living area and a drive-through garage.

To create an ideal space for the owners, who are avid readers with a large book collection, we designed a two-story library behind the column and gable front – a bright and airy spot for reading. On the main level, a contemporary open-house feel utilizes half-high walls for book storage and separation between spaces. Tucked under the sloping roof eaves, the upstairs bedrooms have an intimate, old-house feel.
